Aircraft carriers at war. Cover Image DVD DVD

Aircraft carriers at war.

Madacy Entertainment Group. (Added Author).

Summary:

In December 1941, a radically different and huge armada was assembled under the command of Admiral Nogumo of Japan. At its core were a group of six large, ultra-modern aircraft carriers which transformed the balance of power in the Pacific and reigned supreme. Then, in the spring of 1942, under U.S. Commander James Doolittle, 16 B-25 bombers took off from a carrier deck, flew over 600 miles, and dropped their bombs over Tokyo. The U.S. made further gains with the development of faster aircraft, along with the use of radar technology to locate the enemy. Japan fought back with its new weapon, Kamikaze pilots, whose suicide missions proved a fiercely destructive force against the carriers. However, with its ease and rapidity of deployment and its capacity to fulfill many roles, the aircraft carrier became one of the most flexible and powerful tools of military intervention ever developed.--Container
